About The Family Kitchen
Based in Mount Maunganui, we make chef-prepared, snap-frozen family meals and send them all over New Zealand, for the hard moments and the happy ones.
Our food is cooked fresh in our MPI-registered kitchen using real, local produce, then snap-frozen to lock in the goodness. We're also an ACC-approved nutrition supplier (vendor VBI718), so meals can be funded as part of injury recovery.
Every box is packed by hand and sent with care. Love, from our family to yours.

Frequently asked questions
Where are you based and can I pop in?
Our kitchen and storefront is at 40 Hewletts Road, Mount Maunganui 3116. You can shop in-store, click-and-collect, or order online for nationwide delivery.
Do you deliver nationwide?
We dispatch chilled orders Monday to Thursday. Urban addresses usually receive delivery within 1–2 business days. Meal care packages and gift boxes are delivered Tuesday to Friday—Monday delivery is not available, but orders dispatched on Monday are scheduled for Tuesday delivery. We do not dispatch on weekends, public holidays or the day before a public holiday; public holidays can move dispatch and delivery to the next safe business day. Rural delivery is available but is not guaranteed and is sent at the customer’s risk. Delivery cost is shown at checkout.
How long do the meals last?
Meals are snap-frozen straight after cooking and keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. Once defrosted in the fridge, enjoy within 7 days. Every meal is labelled with storage instructions.
How do I heat them up?
Microwave from frozen: pierce the film and heat on high for 2.5–3 minutes, give it a stir, then rest for 1 minute. Oven from defrosted: 180°C for 15–20 minutes. Always check the food is piping hot before serving. Full instructions are on every label.
Can I order meals for the whole week?
Absolutely. Most families stock the freezer with a week or more in one go. Add what you need from the menu, pick your serve sizes, and we'll deliver everything snap-frozen and ready to heat.
Can I use The Family Kitchen through ACC?
Yes. The Family Kitchen is an ACC-approved supplier (vendor VBI718) for nutritional support during injury recovery. If your ACC plan covers nutritional support, our meals may be eligible for funding. Email shop@mealprep.nz or call 07 572 5700 and we'll help you sort it out.
Do you cater for allergies or special diets?
Our menu suits a range of dietary needs, and you can check the allergen and ingredient details under 'More Info' on each meal card, or email shop@mealprep.nz with anything specific. Please note our kitchen is not allergen-free. We also handle gluten, wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish and shellfish, so we can't guarantee any meal is completely free of these or of cross-contamination.
