When you're healing from an injury, eating enough protein can matter — and cooking it every day is hard when you're sore, tired or less mobile. The Family Kitchen makes chef-made high protein meals for injury recovery, snap-frozen at peak freshness and delivered chilled across New Zealand. Keep them in the freezer, heat one from frozen in 2.5–3 minutes, and get a satisfying, protein-rich meal without the prep. As an ACC-approved supplier (VBI718), we may also be able to help if nutritional or meal support is part of your recovery plan. Always follow the advice of your GP, physio or dietitian on what's right for you.

Why high-protein meals for injury recovery can help

Recovery takes energy, and many people find their appetite and routines change after an injury. Ready-made high-protein meals take the effort out of eating well, so you can focus on rest and rehab rather than shopping and cooking.

  • Protein-rich meals ready to heat, no cooking required
  • Consistent, satisfying meals when energy and appetite are low
  • Less standing, chopping and carrying while you're less mobile
  • Fewer supermarket trips during recovery

Our high-protein range

Our high-protein meals are cooked by chefs in our MPI-registered kitchen in Mount Maunganui, then snap-frozen to lock in freshness. Alongside high protein, we offer low carb, keto, low cal, gluten free and dairy free options, plus family lunch and dinner and kids meals — so you can match your plate to your needs and any advice from your health team.

  • High-protein meals as the core of your recovery menu
  • Low carb and keto options if that suits your plan
  • Gluten free and dairy free for specific dietary needs

Tip: Ask your GP, physio or dietitian how much protein is right for you, then use our high-protein meals to hit that target consistently without daily cooking. We don't make medical claims — your health team knows your recovery best.

How the meals work

Meals keep up to 3 months in the freezer. Heat one from frozen in the microwave for 2.5–3 minutes, stir and rest 1 minute. From defrosted, oven-heat at 180°C for 15–20 minutes. Once defrosted, keep in the fridge and eat within 3 days. Everything arrives chilled in temperature-controlled packaging.

ACC and nutritional support

ACC may fund meal or nutritional support as part of an injury recovery plan in some cases. It isn't automatic and depends on your circumstances, so talk to your ACC case manager or provider about what you may be eligible for. As an ACC-approved supplier (VBI718) for nutritional support during injury recovery, we can help with the process once support is in place. We can't guarantee funding, and this isn't medical advice.

Delivery around New Zealand

We dispatch Monday to Thursday. Urban delivery is usually 1–2 business days, rural on request, with delivery cost by region shown at checkout. No lock-in contracts — order as much or as little as your recovery needs.

Can ACC help pay for high-protein recovery meals?

You may be eligible for meal or nutritional support through ACC as part of a recovery plan, though it isn't guaranteed. Talk to your ACC case manager or provider. As an ACC-approved supplier (VBI718), we can help with the process.
