The easiest approach is to stock up before surgery so meals are waiting when you get home. Our meals keep up to 3 months frozen, so you can order well ahead and have enough for the whole recovery period without a single shop.
Tip: Before your op, move a week of meals to a freezer shelf you can reach without bending or stretching, and keep the microwave clear. Set yourself up so recovery is as low-effort as possible.
How the meals work
Our meals are cooked by chefs in our MPI-registered kitchen in Mount Maunganui, then snap-frozen and delivered chilled in temperature-controlled packaging. Heat one from frozen in the microwave for 2.5–3 minutes, stir and rest 1 minute. From defrosted, oven-heat at 180°C for 15–20 minutes. Once defrosted, keep in the fridge and eat within 3 days.

It isn't guaranteed and depends on your situation, so talk to your ACC case manager or provider about what applies.
